I've had a long and strong friendship with Thumbs up as a community we have been looking to strengthen our hearts as we've dealt with the vibrations of Covid and the impact of this in our home base.
There are many clear words can be used to describe 2020, 2021 and 2022. Endurance, Adaption, Community.
And so many more probably Zoom being the biggest one.

I have spent much time on Zoom and figuring out unique ways to connect and bring out the unique voices of our people.
Should I go this way?
Or this way?
Sometimes I went for these grand walks with my gimbal and my camera and brought the nature and nurture to my community when they were unable to go out.
At other times we relaxed our idea of what it means to do drama and considered an arts and nurture practise to focus their thoughts and feelings as a different way honour everyone's individual feelings and experiences of the pandemic.
During this time we also completed our four year film project “Good Will Triumph”. Between lockdowns we were able to present the films to the public and our community. You can read more about those in the news section of this website.
This is very exciting and we have lots of gratitude for the amazing support we had from our locals and from the Hutt City Council making it possible for us to achieve this feat.
As we carry on into the next stage of To the Heart of it, our participants are starting to create their own films using the app Marco Polo we are very excited about it.
From one-minute movies spanning Musicals to Adventures in genre and then Five-minute movies and a larger group movie to see out the year.
It was really important to me to give the participants the opportunity to have more empowerment with camera work, costumes and creative decision-making.
It is exciting to see what we can create with collective consciousness. While skill-building how to use Ipad, Messenger, and Marco Polo as all of these apps and the skills required to use them overlap and are accessible to other areas of our participant’s life and work well in conjunction with other things they are learning and building on.
We also have up our sleeves, our art sessions for our continuation of doodle books and our journals for creative expression.

Sometimes you’ve just got to chat to your friends. In which we discover the parts of ourselves and our work that we would like to expand on.
Julie and I have been connecting for a about a year. We have been deep diving into our creative passions and the impact they have on the world.

Having recently been to Italy she is on a mission to get to Africa to support children in learning to cook. Yes girlfriend!!!

Roger is a very talented local musician with mad Ukulele skills and years of experience with Wellington Batucada.
As a regular performer at local Ukulele Open Mic nights, it has been a total privilege to spend time planning and collaborating on concepts for performance, nurturing his creative process.
I am delighted to see how this creativity develops and expands in Roger’s creative world. Leaps and bounds :)
