Pick a Path Colour Wheel of Collage

In the colour wheel session we're inviting participants to select colours from across the spectrum and to map that out as a colour wheel in their journals.

Abi with the support of Katrina colorblocked hers into this fantastic array of colours words and images.

Then came the tricky part of gluing everything, layering and making sure she was happy with her final results.

Pretty spectacular results.

This is also a conscious creation process so being able to slow down and enjoy working with paper how the colour and the sensory elements interact and engage with each other. I always enjoy sitting down to look over our work and read into the creations people have created and appreciate and celebrate what they have birthed.

I always play music from my specially created Art Playlist on Spotify.
I invite you to pop on my playlist, pull out some magazines or rescue some from a charity shop or free box.

Make Your Own

Source a piece of paper or card or cardboard you want to work on. Re-using packaging from food products can be a really satisfying way of helping to reduce waste by upcycling through creativity.

I prefer to use glue sticks as you can be more precise when working with magazines and there is less glue time, you can move pieces if you want as well. If you have PVA at home, that and an older paint brush can be great for application as well. Be aware of the bubbling of your paper if you get things too wet, so it can be good to use old gift cards (plastic ones) to smooth out ripples or bubbles.

You can go by eye, think of splitting your page into areas of colour or segments of colour and fill it in those ways or you can use a pencil line to create grids on your paper and glue where you see fit.
